Even before Paul Qui made a splash as the winner of season 9 of Bravo's Top Chef, he was wowing diners as executive chef at Uchiko restaurant in Austin, Texas. Born in Manila, Philippines, Qui likes to takes a modern twist on his classic French and Japanese culinary training. As executive sous chef at the Westin Bellevue, Mark Santiago says he flourishes under the resources and open creative outlets of the hospitality industry. Though his own journey began in Hawai'i, Santiago's family hails from the Philippines. It was his grandfather who found work on a plantation in Lahaina, Maui, and eventually raised a family there.

A self-made master, Seng "Sam" Ung's says he created his culinary style by learning everyone else's. After fleeing the Khmer Rouge, Ung parlayed his cook upbringing in Cambodia into a job organizing the pantry at Seattle's Rainier Club. Over time, he gained recognition, even preparing dinner for then-Vice President Al Gore. His noodle shop has been an International District staple for decades.

Helen Noh
knew from an early age she was destined to bake. But the only born-and-raised Puget Sound native in this year's group says she truly found her calling working at Starbucks corporate, after she found herself designing wedding cake after wedding cake for colleagues.  She opened her cupcake-and-wine boutique in October 2011.
