Food is an essential need for everyone. It can also be an expression of our heritage, roots, joy, community, and cultural identity.
Making Room at the Table is a collection of Asian American Pacific Islander recipes and stories by the ACRS family that captures the spirit of generosity, community and inclusion when inviting and sharing a home-cooked meal or cherished family recipe with others. Dedicated to Walk for Rice founders Sam Mitsui, Herb and Bertha Tsuchiya, who started Walk for Rice to help provide rice for the ACRS Food Bank, Making Room at the Table is an invitation to enjoy these recipes and join our cause to deliver culturally familiar foods to AAPI communities facing hunger. Thirty years later, our founders’ legacy continues to grow and has inspired generations of community giving and service. Please pull up a chair and join our communal table!
Make a donation to support our expanded efforts to directly deliver culturally familiar food like bok choy, tofu, noodles and rice to food bank clients in Seattle and King County during these challenging times. The ACRS Food Bank is experiencing an increasing and unprecedented demand for food and nutrition services during the pandemic. Each person who makes a donation will receive monthly digital recipe from ACRS staff, volunteers and community members. Recipes will include step-by-step instructions and be sent by email each month, with a final compiled digital pdf booklet. Donations of $50 or more will receive both a pdf booklet and a commemorative full-color booklet.
